Place Level

The term “place” refers to the geographic level below an ICS (Integrated Care System). Placed-based partnerships involve local government playing an important leadership role in recognising our shared priorities and the scope for joint action. The following themes for integration at the place level are:

  • Improve the health & wellbeing for the whole population of Central Bedfordshire
  • Delivering better care for individuals right down to community level
  • Improve our populations experiences of care

Community Engagement & Covid-19 Report

This report condenses the key findings of the peer research investigation of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health inequalities of residents of Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire. It concentrates on the experiences of those residents we know to have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, analyses why this was the case, and makes suggestions for what might improve outcomes in the future based on the insights and suggestions of the participants themselves.

Child Health Profiles 2023

This profile provides a snapshot of child health in this area. It is designed to help local government and health services improve the health and wellbeing of children and tackle health inequalities.

Central Bedfordshire Health Profile 2019

It provides a picture of the health of people in Central Bedfordshire, and will support Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group to understand the health needs of the whole community so that we can work together to improve people’s health and reduce health inequalities.

Local Government Profile

This report provides a summary of the latest available information on the demographic and socio-economic make-up of the 4 unitaries in Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Deprivation 2019

This information looks at the levels of deprivation in Central Bedfordshire, measured by the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2019. The IMD is published by Communities for Local Government. It provides a consistent method for measuring deprivation across England and monitoring the gap between the most deprived areas.

The IMD combines information from seven areas to produce an overall measure:

  • employment                     
  • education, skills and training      
  • health and disability
  • barriers to housing and services                
  • crime
  • income
  • living environment  

Reducing levels of deprivation and inequality has an important part to play in the continued improvement of Central Bedfordshire.
